If you are getting older and seeing wrinkles appear on your face, there are things you can do to make the wrinkles go away or diminish them greatly. Below are two of these things so you can feel better about yourself.

Botox

Botox is one treatment option you have to remove wrinkles. Botox freezes muscles in the wrinkled area, which then makes your wrinkles soften and relax. Botox is often used for wrinkles around your eyes, frown lines, and lines on your forehead.

You can go to a dermatologist to have this treatment done. You can have this done in the doctor's office and go home the same day. The doctor will put a numbing cream on the area before they do the injection to help prevent pain. Right after the treatment, you may have a little swelling or redness, but this will go away. You will start seeing results in a few days in most cases. Over time, the muscles in the wrinkled area will unfreeze and your wrinkles will come back. Because of this, to keep the wrinkles away, you will have to have the treatment done again periodically. This is generally a few months but does depend on the type of wrinkles you have.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Another option you have is laser skin resurfacing, which should be done in the doctor's office. The doctor uses a laser to treat small wrinkles and improve your skin's appearance. There is an ablative laser that removes the top layer of your skin, known as the epidermis. The underlying skin, known as the dermis, is heated which will stimulate the growth of collagen. This is an invasive laser, and your skin will be red for a few days after the treatment. After this time, however, you will see fewer wrinkles and brighter skin.

For a much less invasive resurfacing, the doctor can use a nonablative laser. This will help with collagen growth to improve the texture, small wrinkles, and skin tone. The doctor may use a laser or pulsed light to do the treatment. This type is not as effective to treat wrinkles, however. There is less downtime as your skin will not become as irritated.

The dermatologist can tell you of other treatment options to help you with your wrinkles. This may include using fillers, getting a facelift, and much more. The doctor may also prescribe a cream for you to use at home to help with collagen growth.
